MUSIC VIDEO

 

The music video has various strengths for me as it means I can explore new and original ideas in a new format. It The first of these strengths is that the song itself bribng ideas to what the video should be about as the lyrics give some idea of what should appear in the video itself. But a slight problem with this is that it can be particularly difficult to chose a song in the first place, the song has to be carefully picked so that you are able to work with the message of the song. A problem with music videos can be the performance as it tends to rely on the lead character to carry the piece, and of they are not enthusiastic enough for the piece then it will not look good. The music video also offers some interesting ancillaries as I have not created an album cover or poster before and so it will be good to develop my skills in developing these.

 

TEASER TRAILER

 

Strenghts of a teaser trailer are that I have a lot of expericence it making short films but obviously being a trailer this is entirely different as a short film has a narrative and although a teaser trailer has some sense of narrative, it is meant to sell the film more that showing what the film is actually about. A weakness is that I have never done a teaser trailer before and that they can be rather difficult to edit together with a lack of narrative. The same as the music video producing ancillaries for this would be a new experience and so it would allow me to develop my skills in a similar fashion to the music video.

 

SHORT FILM

 

With prior experience with short films then it would interesting to explore what I could do further with a short film. Also as the film is longer than what we have done before and so it means that it we can express the idea a lot more and it means we are free to express the idea. The problem with short films are that they are longer and the create the idea and plan the whole thing. Also all the music has to be non-copyright and therefore is harder to create the music as it either has to be non-copyright or the music has to be created itself. The short film presented ancillaries that I have already tackled and so would not be a new experience but would mean that I could use these skills to make very advanced ancillary products.
